What's next in Thai politics?

This is a very naive understanding of history. You make the leaders previous to thaksin sound like they gave up power 100% due to altruism. They probably gave up once it looked too difficult to keep their power. That is not a sacrifice, it is a defeat. Also, for every person who "sacrifices" there is another person who benefits. I think you need to wonder why don't the forces that oppose Thaksin sacrifice some more instead of violently opposing him and anyone related to him. Why must the Thai people sacrifice and lose their elected leaders multiple times? Why can't non-elected forces sacrifice and allow elected leaders to finish their terms?
